Debt in a not so changing world
Debt in a not so changing world. Everything around us changes so fast, science and technology, breakthroughs in medicine and one of the fastest and largest areas of interest today is information technology. But as fast as we evolve in areas that change us and bring us together, the credit that we all need in one form or another to bring about these wondrous leaps forward can easily turn to debt. The reasons for the lender changing the tag above your name from in ” in credit ” to ” in debt ” really doesn’t matter, but what does matter is the way the holders of the purse strings deal with us, the people who attract us with the glamorous and glittering adverts showing the change of life, how interesting and attractive we can become, change…….no glam or glitter, no more pleasantries……we find that we are now dealing with a system that hasn’t changed for a century. We are now faced with demands with no real help or assistance, the one single feeling that most would apply is that of injustice………..Our world is changing, shouldn’t theirs?
Hi Nigel, i worked for a bank for nearly fifteen years and found that the approach to customers never changed in that time. I have always thought that if the banks were more understanding to those who struggle they would keep them as clients. I am now unemployed and being hassled by the very bank i worked for, i have tried to pay back money that i owe them but my pleas for help just falls on deaf ears. The systems that are in place really need looking at as i know that they can do more to help if they really wanted to. I suppose it comes down to profits at the end of the day. Am i an acceptable loss? Maybe.
Hi
I cant believe just how badly my bank has acted recently. I have been with my bank for twenty two years now, I have taken out loans and repaid them on time, I have two credit cards and always made my payments on time and never had any cause to complain. My husband recently lost his job and my hours were cut, we have been working for the same company for about twelve years and have a great track record with our wages. Well, I contacted my bank to explain about our situation and to see if I can reduce the payments down on the loan we have or to try and consolidate some of the debt into our mortgage, the response I got was that if I don’t keep the repayments up, they would have to take further action. I still cant believe that there was no give at all. I went on the internet and found Welcome Solutions, I chatted with Sam about my debts and she explained how it works, I am not happy that I have to go down this route when I really believe that my bank could have done allot more to help me out. I am now on a Debt Management plan with Welcome Solutions and my payments have been reduced and life is good. The banks really need to wake up as it wont be long before we are both back in full time employment and back to where we were.
Hi
What I don’t get is why they won’t change, I am one of the lucky one’s, no debt to really speak about but I know one day it may happen. Big Bonuses are being paid out and we seem to be the ones that are paying them, I cant afford a great deal in life and money is tight but it really gets to me that some of the bank charges I am paying are going towards the bonuses, not to improve the services I rarely use.
Good to have a moan. Cheers
i really love all your posting style, very interesting.
